Steph Curry new Hollywood faith based film

NBA star Stephen “Steph Curry With the Shot” Curry has wasted no time after founding his Unanimous Media company earlier this year.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Curry will executive produce a faith-based drama set to hit theatres in April of next year.

Starring Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman), Josh Lucas (Glory Road) and Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), the film is based on the 2017 Joyce Smith novel The Impossible, based on the true story of Smith’s 14-year-old son, John, who fell through a frozen Missouri lake and was pronounced legally dead before returning to life an hour later.

“John’s story is nothing short of incredible,” Curry told THR. “It’s a story about the power of prayer and perseverance and one I immediately connected to. After reading the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life onscreen,” added Curry, who is a well-known advocate of faith, family and sweetness.

According to THR, Curry signed on within 24 hours of being being pitched Breakthrough by executive producer DeVon Franklin, preacher and husband to actress Meagan Good.

Variety reported in July that Curry’s company is already developing several of its own productions, including a Bible-based Sony Pictures Animations movie (Unanimous has an overall film and TV deal with Sony) and a Wedding Crashers-style comedy.

Curry will reportedly assist with the marketing and promotion of the film, and if the Warriors take it all the way next year, I’m sure a strategically placed T-shirt or quick mention after a game will be worth millions in free advertising.
