A 19-year-old Florida man was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend after he wouldn't give her access to his phone, investigators said.
According to WAFB, 18-year-old Zoe Cooper, the estranged girlfriend of Tadarius Massey, 19, was arrested for second-degree murder earlier this month in connection to his death.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the murder unfolded following an argument between Cooper and Massey at her home. According to investigators, Cooper was upset that Massey wouldn't let her see his phone.
The argument escalated, and Massey was stabbed multiple times.
Following the stabbing, Cooper allegedly dropped Massey off at a hospital. The victim's friends took him inside while Cooper drove back home, investigators said.
An arrest report shows Cooper shared a picture of them on social media, saying “If I could take it back or trade place in a heartbeat, I would. I love you always. I’m truly sorry for what I did. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.”
According to detectives, Massey's manager at Subway said he had previously gone to work looking beaten up. Cooper would also come into the Subway and watch Massey work without speaking, the manager said.
Back in December 2023, Cooper had attacked Massey at Ocoee High School after he didn't give her access to his phone, per investigators.
Messages found on both of their phones revealed that Cooper had regretted not killing Massey during a previous incident.
“And Ima spit in yo grave. I wish you would have died that day. Seriously, I hope you die a very painful death," Cooper told Massey in March, per an arrest report.
