KFC has returned its Original Honey BBQ flavor, which it referred to as “one of the most requested menu demands of all time" in a news release shared last week.

Original Honey BBQ made its official return to KFC's menu on Monday (October 6), with the iconic sauce included on classic pieces of chicken, the KFC Chicken Sandwich and the KFC chicken tenders.

“KFC’s Original Honey BBQ wasn’t just a menu offering, it became a cultural touchstone that fans have been craving and asking us to bring back for years,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President, KFC U.S. “What better way to continue our KFC comeback than to bring back this legendary flavor and reintroduce it in a bigger and bolder way — on everything.

KFC also announced that the price of its chicken sandwich would be lowered to $3.99 in honor of the nostalgic return of its Original Honey BBQ flavor. The popular fast food chicken chain had previously returned the discontinued potato wedges and hot & spicy wings nationwide following an "obsessive demand" from fans in August.

"For years, KFC has heard from fans clamoring for a chance to try their famous Potato Wedges again, through thousands of social media comments and petition signatures," the company said in the press release. "When KFC fired up a surprise drop of wedges in the Tampa, Fla. market, local fans were elated, leading to an early sellout in some restaurants. KFC first introduced Potato Wedges in the mid-1990s as a menu staple, earning cult status in the late 1990s and early 2000s, before a hotly debated discontinuation in 2020.

"Joining Potato Wedges in their long-awaited return are KFC's legendary Hot & Spicy Wings. The wings pair a spicy marinade with double hand-breading in KFC's signature Extra Crispy™ flour, offering just the right amount of kick in every satisfying crunch and pairing perfectly with the crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside wedges. While wedges make a comeback after five years, wings make their triumphant return after nearly two years—both are available while supplies last, so get them while they're hot and crispy."

KFC said fans were "clamoring" for the return of the popular potato wedges, which were discontinued and replaced by 'Secret Recipe Fries' in 2020, according to the company. The Hot & Spicy Wings will also return after a nearly two-year hiatus, with both being offered while supplies last.
