A Saved By The Bell Musical Was Once In The Works!

It looks like everything is turning into a musical these days, but what about a Saved By The Bell Broadway musical?!

According to Debbie Gibson, the project was once in the early stages of developments because producers approached her about composing it.

She told EW, "I was actually at one point turning Saved By The Musical into a musical. So I would say bring it back and turn it into a really kitschy, catchy musical.”

Series executive producer Peter Engel and Linda Mancuso, an NBC executive who helped launch the series, approached Debbie about the potential musical.

However, the project got put on hold after Linda Mancuso died in 2003 from breast cancer.

Debbie said, "They had talked about composing and writing lyrics, and I found a draft of that script in my garage recently when I moved and went, Oh my god, this is still a great idea. People love nostalgia. It’s not happening, but we’re re-opening it with this conversation."

Would you want a Saved By The Bell Broadway musical?!
