Bryant, 41, was one of five people killed when a helicopter crashed into a hillside above Calabasas, Calif. The Los Angeles Times reported that the crash ignited a brush fire, impeding the ability of firefighters and emergency personnel to reach the aircraft.

Bryant spent his entire 20-year career with the franchise, winning three consecutive championships from 2000-02 and back-to-back in 2009-10. He retired in 2016 as the NBA’s third all-time leading scorer with 33,643 points, a mark that current Lakers star LeBron James eclipsed Saturday night in Bryant’s hometown of Philadelphia.
